Summer Style Essentials…Prints and Puffs

05/25/2018

Spring has sprung (finally) and the summer is upon us! The summer season means a lot of things but a couple of my summer go to options are prints and puffs! Curls and waves are definitely my summer hair staple. It’s the one time of year, on the east coast, that I can go out with my hair still wet and welcome the heat and humidity to help me reach my hair goals. Whether it’s one giant puff, with my hair half up/down, a low, wavy slicked down bun or a bushy low pony, I’m all for curls and mega volume, especially during the “hot” months. Quotes for hot months because as soon as the temperature nears 85 in DC people start warning you to stay hydrated and speaking of “heat waves.” *eye roll*

Not only does letting my puff free help me use the weather to work in your favor, but it also keeps the heating tools tucked away, however one cannot forget to keep deep conditioning, those sun kissed tresses can dry out with the utmost quickness.

Prints are my absolute favorite because you can have neutral prints, pair them with bold solids or vice versa. Some of my absolute faves are Ankara, Kente, polka dots, stripes, houndstooth, paisley and anything vibrant. I love these pants because wide leg trousers are one of my all time favorites because they’re…

  • High waist (help all my fellow fun size ladies elongate those legs!)
  • Have pockets
  • COTTON! (Because thick thigh may save lives but they for sure get hot and sweaty on a humid day with your favorite lotion.)

You can dress these up or use them for a more casual look. Here I simply paired them with a solid, super affordable bodysuit and a pair of my go to, neutral heels. However, I’ve also paired them with a white poplin shirt and a blazer for the office. The possibilities are endless and not to mention, high waist trousers are so flattering on a variety of shapes!

Are you into prints? If so, what are some of your go to patterns?
